Privacy
What this site collects
NM AI Research runs no analytics and no advertising of its own on this site. The site has no accounts and no forms that send what you type anywhere, and its own code sets no cookies. This page lists what does happen when you visit, and which other services are involved.
01Hosting
This site and its project pages, including the Game Vault, are hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub states: “When a GitHub Pages site is visited, the visitor's IP address is logged and stored for security purposes, regardless of whether the visitor has signed into GitHub or not.” (GitHub Pages documentation). How GitHub handles that data is set out in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
The CrossReview page also asks GitHub's public interface for the project's open submissions, its reviews and the reviews in progress each time it loads with JavaScript on, so GitHub receives those requests too. The page then shows what people have posted publicly in those GitHub issues: their titles, an optional field on the project's domain or the reviewer's experience, and the GitHub user names of reviewers who have marked a review as in progress.
02Stored in your browser
A few settings and game scores are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device. They are not cookies. The site's code uses them in your browser, to restore your settings and show your best scores, and does not upload them. One of them can show in a request: in Keyboard Magician, when you play a recorded song that is not yet loaded, your browser loads that song's file from this site and may request it from GitHub, unless it can reuse a copy it has cached. You can remove them by clearing this site's data in your browser's settings.
nmai-theme: your light or dark theme, saved when you press the theme button. Six project pages (AI News Board, CEO Pay-vs-Delivery Scorecard, Announced vs. Deliverable AI Power Demand, AI Energy-Demand Forecast Scorecard, FineWeb-Edu Threshold Explorer and AI Data-Centre Water Evidence Explorer) also save it each time they load.archify-themeandarchify-motion: theme and animation choices on the two interactive diagrams (the research architecture and the Sovereign Watch workflow).- Game Vault:
fact-checkmate:settings(Fact Checkmate level and colour),midnight-strings:settingsandmidnight-strings:best(Keyboard Magician settings and best scores) andtideline-surf-records-v1(Tideline best times).
Search boxes, filters and game controls work inside your browser. What you type or choose in them is not sent anywhere, apart from the Keyboard Magician song file above, and the site saves none of it by itself, apart from the game settings and scores above and the diagram views described next. On the two interactive diagrams, the view you choose is written into the page address after the # sign, and presentation mode adds present=1 to the address. A link or a picture of the diagram is copied to your clipboard only when you press a copy button, and the export buttons save a picture (PNG, JPEG, WebP or SVG) or a video (WebM) of the diagram to your device only when you press them.
03YouTube in the Music Vault
Music Vault tracks play in YouTube's embedded player in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play; the track pictures come from this site. When you press play, your browser connects to YouTube and other Google servers, so YouTube and Google can receive your IP address and which video you play. While a track plays, the player also sends YouTube reports, including on playback, watch time and playback quality. Google's privacy policy says it also collects details such as your browser and device type and the referrer URL of a request.
Google says privacy-enhanced mode “prevents the use of views of embedded YouTube content from influencing the viewer’s browsing experience on YouTube”, and that any ads shown on such videos are not personalised (YouTube Help). In our test on 15 October 2026, in one browser, we saw no cookies from the player, but it saved two entries in its own local storage and one browser database. How Google handles the data is set out in the Google Privacy Policy.
To avoid this, do not press play. Opening a track's link in a new tab, or with JavaScript turned off, takes you to youtube.com itself, where YouTube's own privacy policy and your YouTube and browser settings apply. The films in the Video Vault are served from this site, on GitHub Pages like the rest of it, with no video player from another company.
04Links to other sites
Links to other sites, such as GitHub, Zenodo, ORCID, Hugging Face, Bluesky, Instagram, Suno and DOI pages, load nothing until you follow them. Once you do, that site's own privacy policy applies.
05Email
The site has no contact form and no mailing-list sign-up. If you email NMAIResearch@proton.me, your address and message arrive in a Proton Mail mailbox (Proton privacy policy). Questions about this page go to the same address.
